Mariko grew up in Japan and studied music in Tokyo throughout her childhood. She earned a Master's from Tokyo Music College, and studied with Erust F. Seiler after graduating for almost a decade.
Mariko moved to Los Angeles in 1999 and began teaching immediately. Since then, she has enjoyed a vibrant private Suzuki studio. She enjoys watching children grow up with music in their lives. The hope is that students cultivate beautiful tone as well as deep knowledge and skill of the piano.
When she is not teaching, Mariko has 3 black belts in Kendo Martial Arts, and also competes in dance competitions. She also enjoys gardening and the outdoors.
